About Place of Peace

Local De Soto Artist Jim Walker will have his photos included in this show.

Place of Peace shines a light on the veteran experience. Transitioning to civilian life can be a difficult journey, often marked by depression, anxiety, and the sudden loss of structure and support. This exhibit gives voice to those experiences through art.

Featuring the work of several military veterans, the show celebrates the unique journeys of each artist. Their work spans a wide range of media—from wood sculptures and found-object art to painting, photography, colored pencil, and drawing.

Some participating artists have years of experience, while others are just beginning to explore their creative voices. Regardless of experience, each piece offers a window into the artist’s perspective and story.

The Place of Peace Veterans Art Exhibit was created by the Arts Council of Johnson County.
